How long have you been skating? How long have you been playing derby?
4 years.

How did you get your derby name?
My name is Ashley, hence the Assh.  Sassy was appropriate because it’s just me.

Why did you decide to play roller derby?
Went to watch Sasha Haughtbich 4 years ago.  I fell in love with derby and have been playing since.

Pimp your gear: Riedell 265 boots with PowerDyne Titron plates on G-Rod 2.0 wheels. A mixture of Eightball, Pro-Tec, and 187 pads protect me.

What is your worst derby injury?
A pretty bad ankle sprain, which took me out for a couple of months.

And your favorite derby moment so far?
Wow…after playing for 4 years this is a tough question but one of the most memorable is the Sisters win over the Black Widows last season. That felt great!

What do you want your next step to be in derby?
I’m always working to increase my endurance. Derby requires more endurance than any sport I’ve participated in previously. You can’t stop working!

What advice would you give to women who want to play roller derby?
DO IT! Derby has been an avenue for staying in shape, making amazing friends, and gaining inner strength. The strong women who play are the evidence to the awesomeness that is derby!
