LOS ANGELES, CA -- Through the first half of Saturday night's banked-track game between the hometown LA Ri-Ettes and San Diego Wildfires, LA's jammers seemed magnetically drawn to the penalty box, and it ended up showing on the scoreboard. San Diego repeatedly played an effective slow-trap on powerjams, and used the margin gained on those to hold a 17 point lead at halftime.
INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- After an extremely low-scoring first half that ended at just 36-19, the Naptown all-stars took control in the second and blew out the visiting Midwest Mega Team, an irregular team of North Central all-stars from Windy City, Arch Rival, Ohio, the Chicago Outfit, Burning River and Brewcity, by a final score of 131-41.
INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- In an matchup between Windy City home team The Fury and Naptown's B-team the Warning Belles, the first 20 minutes belonged to the Fury and the last 15 minutes belonged to the Belles.
While it's still a few weeks before the 2012 WFTDA derby season gets rolling in earnest, this January weekend sees a fair amount of interesting banked track, expo and intraleague action to check out.
